At Florida Southern College, Wright sought to create a “truly American campus,” designing an 80-acre network of buildings and covered walkways radiating from a central hub. The hexagonal Annie Pfeiffer Chapel—the first building he designed on the site—is faced in geometric-patterned concrete block and cut by a great glass-clad “lantern,” which rises over its central section.
