Frank Lloyd Wright’s Greatest Lesson in Construction…The Desert.
Captured from the Garden Room at Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin West.
Frank Lloyd Wright's appreciation for the desert is captured in quotes like:
"The desert itself is a characteristic thing here, and I have always regarded it as the greatest lesson in construction".
He also spoke of the desert's "sheer beauty of space and pattern" and the "grand garden" it represented. Wright's work at Taliesin West is one the best examples, in his portfolio, of how architecture can harmonize with its environment.
I guess I never really knew why they called it the “Garden Room” at Taliesin West? Was it named, not after a traditional garden outside, but the “Grand Garden” of the Sonoran Desert???
