Organic Simplicity

The Margaret and Patrick Kinney Home

LANCASTER, WISCONSIN (1951)

I like the last two words of this quote “...organic simplicity.”

"Organic architecture seeks superior sense of use and a finer sense of comfort, expressed in organic simplicity."

- Frank Lloyd Wright

Beside a few early designs of Wright when he was still trying to figure out his organic style, most have a wonderful simplicity to them. You don’t need to try and figure out his designs, you blended and mold into them pretty quickly, it’s almost like you have been living in them for years when you first enter the space.

My most recent experience of this was inside the Margaret and Patrick Kinney Home (1951) in Lancaster, Wisconsin.

Q: What was one Wright design for you that you felt like you had lived in for years when you stepped inside?
