Buying a Print = Giving Back to Wright’s Legacy

SACRED SPACES: FRANK LLOYD WRIGHT x ANDREW PIELAGE

All the images in the exhibit are available for purchase. They are printed on a beautiful Fujicolor Crystal Archive Professional Paper by my local print shop Image Craft.

A print purchase buys more than just art for your home or office though…

On December 30, 1937, Frank Lloyd Wright sent a telegram home to Wisconsin from Phoenix:

“Weather warm, beautiful site in hand…bring shovels, wheelbarrow, stove, cello and violin…”

That was the start of the Wright’s school of architecture at Taliesin West.

Wright believed the education of an architect should be well rounded. He put the students to work, they learned architecture by building. They were also expected to participate in performance art like singing, dancing, playing musical instruments, etc.

In continuing the tradition of arts education, I want to give back to Wright’s legacy, and I believe kids will be the caretakers of that legacy.

For the past 10 summers, I have been teaching photography workshops for kids aged 10-18. Giving kids an avenue to express themselves artistically through the lenses of their cameras is a really rewarding experience. I’m also committed to giving back financially.

I am proud to announce that I will be donating a portion of the proceeds of all print sales to support youth education at the four hosting sites of the Sacred Spaces exhibit. That is, to Beth Sholom Synagogue in Pennsylvania, Taliesin in Wisconsin, Taliesin West in Arizona, and Fallingwater in Pennsylvania.

So, if you do decide to buy a print for your home or office, know that you are helping continue Wright’s legacy of educating the youth in arts and architecture.

Thank you for your continued support, I really appreciate it. Now, it’s time for me to get back to work. =)
